#BUCSWednesday is back in full swing!

After a flurry of friendlies and just one BUCS fixture last week, we’re pumped that #BUCSWednesdays are back on campus in full swing!

Here’s our pick of the games taking place on Wednesday 14th October both on and off campus!

MATCH OF THE DAY: Men’s Rugby League 1st vs University of Manchester Men’s 1st

We love a local derby, and what better way to kick off the season than with our men’s rugby league team as they take on our local rivals, University of Manchester.

After a successful preseason and after grabbing their first bit of silverware at the North West Rugby 9s tournament in Warrington on Wednesday 7th October, the team are looking to return to the BUCS Northern 1A with just as much drive and determination as last year.  We’re in no doubt that the team will start this season as they mean to go on as they seek to avenge their narrow miss out on promotion into the Prem after a heartbreaking game against University of Leeds.

We’ll be at Burnage Rugby Club cheering them on as they begin this season’s campaign – join us!

Men’s Football 1st vs University of Leeds Men’s 1st

It’s a brand new season and a brand new league for our men’s football 1st team who kick off this year’s campaign in the BUCS Northern 1A with an away game against the University of Leeds 1st team – another newcomer to the league.

We’re in no doubt that this season’s going to be another corker for the team, after taking the double home last year.

Women’s Basketball 1st vs University of Liverpool Women’s 1st

Flying the blue and orange flag on campus at Cheshire are our women’s basketball 1st team as they welcome the University of Liverpool.  It should be an interesting first game of the season for our squad, as their opponents enjoyed success in both the Northern 2A and the Northern Conference Cup.  However, with a fantastic turnout post-Freshers’ Fair, we’re sure they’ll be no problem for our team.

TO: 5:30pm, Cheshire Campus Sports Centre

Men’s Hockey 1st vs University of Central Lancashire 1st

We’re pretty excited about men’s hockey this year, as the BUCS Northern 2A features not one, but two MMU teams.  This week, our men’s hockey 1st team take on league newcomers, UCLan as they look to set a precedent for the season to come.

Men’s Table Tennis 1st vs University of Liverpool Men’s 2nd

Our table tennis club are newcomers to BUCS this year.  Set up as a result of last year’s successful Active Campus sessions and led by our Activator, David Abesanya, the men’s team make their way to Liverpool for their first ever BUCS game.  We’ve heard (and seen) good things from those involved, so we’re crossing everything that the team come back with a victory.

5:00pm, University of Liverpool Sport and Fitness Centre

We’ll be keeping you updated with all of the action on @MMUSport.  Best of luck to all of our teams competing on Wednesday – let’s show them how it’s done!
