Spotlight on… Golf!

This week, we’re getting to know our brand new Golf club a little bit better!

After being started this year by Sports Marketing Management student, Tom Jones, off the back of our Get Into Golf programme, our club have started their first ever season in the BUCS leagues.  We spoke to Tom to find a little bit more about the club!

How many members do you have?

“We’ve currently got 17 members – but we’re always on the lookout for new talent, including those who want to try the sport for the first time!”

What’s the best part about being in your sports club?

“The social side of being part of the club is great – we have a top group of people and it is open to all abilities.

“The membership price includes a full seven day membership to our local Chorlton-Cum-Hardy golf club.  We’ve also got opportunities for coaching and have many inter club competitions throughout the year which will be played on Wednesdays and Sundays.”

How did your club do last year on and off the pitch?

“Our club is brand new for 2015! Last year, a small group of us set one up off the back off the Get Into Golf programme.  We identified golfers who would be interested and decided to enter a BUCS team for this year!”

What are your hopes for 2015/16?

“Our hopes are to develop an established club and sustain this in the long term. We also would like to gain promotion in the first year.”

Not a bad day for a BUCS game!

What on and off the pitch activities do you have coming up for your club?

“We just recently played our first competitive BUCS fixtures and won! Our 1st team beat Uni of Liverpool away and our 2nds beat Keele Uni away comfortably! We have a busy schedule of fixtures coming up, along with some socials too!”

Our club meet every Sunday at Chorlton-Cum-Hardy Golf Club.  You can find out more about the club by following @MMUGolf.
