It’s that time of the week again: #BUCSWednesday!

Last season’s cup campaign was a corker for our MMU Sport teams, as we took seven teams to compete in the BUCS Northern Conference Cup and Plate finals at Durham University, making us one of the best-represented institutions in the  whole campaign!

With that kind of legacy, it’s safe to say we’re pretty excited about the return of the Cup!

Here’s our picks of the games taking place on Wednesday 28th October, both on and off campus.

MATCH OF THE DAY: Men’s Basketball 1s vs Hull 1s

Our men’s basketball team have started their season well, earning victories over both Bangor and Liverpool JM.  This week, they welcome Hull to the Sugden Sports Centre in the first knock out stage of the Northern Conference Cup!  The team are looking to improve on last year’s cup campaign, as a tough game against a strong Chester side saw them get knocked out quite early on.

With tip off at 2:30pm, and strong support from the fantastic MMU Cheer, it certainly promises to be an exciting game.

Netball 1s vs Durham 2s

Our netball team went big last week, as they travelled back from Keele with a 90 – 26 victory under their belts!  This week, the team turn their attention to the Conference Cup, as they face Durham’s 2nd team and look to return home with another great win.

Game starts: 2:00pm, Maiden Castle

Women’s Hockey 1s vs Bangor 1s

Women's Hockey

Our women’s hockey 1st team are looking to make as much of an impact in this year’s Conference Cup campaign as they have done so far in the league as they travel all the way to Bangor tomorrow for a 4:00pm PB.  We’re sensing good things for our hockey team this year, so it’s sure to be a great game!

PB: 4:00pm, Ffriddoedd Synthetic Pitch

But it’s not just cup games taking place this week!  Here’s our picks from the league!

Men’s Lacrosse 1s vs Newcastle 1s

With a double win from last season under their belt, our men’s lacrosse team face a new challenge in the Northern 1A.  It’s been a tough start for the team, which has seen them narrowly their first two games.  But it’s still early days yet, and we’re crossing everything as the team make their way to Newcastle for their third league game of the season tomorrow.
