Meet gymnast, Joseph Fox!

Joseph Fox

We’re excited to have men’s artistic gymnast, Joseph Fox, joining us from Leeds Gymnastic Club.  Joseph has joined MMU this year to study Human Biology and train with City of Manchester Gymnastics Club.

Ranked third in Great Britain and first in Trinidad and Tobago (where his father is originally from), Joseph has competed in a number of international competitions so far this year, including the World Cup in Croatia and the World Championships.

We chatted to Joseph about why he got involved with the sport!

“Becoming the English under 15s pommel champion and ranking 1st for Trinidad and Tobago.”

How did you get involved with your sport?

“My mum took my brother to the gymnasium when I was younger and I was so eager to try it myself – apparently I was just shouting ‘me, me, me!’”

Why did you choose to study Human Biology?

“I am interested in doing anything to do with my sport and the human body.”

What are your future ambitions and aspirations?

“To become the first ever Trinidad and Tobago gymnast to go to the Olympics.”

Who has had the biggest influence on your life?

“My mum.”

What advice would you give to a young athlete?

“Work hard while you’re young and it will pay off in the future.”
