#BUCSWednesday highlights: the wins came pouring in!

Well, yesterday was just fantastic with plenty of victories for our teams across the board.

Together our teams secured 23 victories, 19 losses and two draws. Here are some of our favourite results from yesterday’s games!

MATCH OF THE DAY: Women’s Hockey 1st vs University of Manchester 3rd

What an exciting game this was!  After two fantastic victories in the league so far this season, our united women’s 1st team took to the pitch looking to make it three from three on home turf at Timperley Sports Club.

Placing pressure on the visitors from the outset, the home team started strong, taking an early 1 – 0 lead over the opposition.  One goal quickly became three by the time the whistle was blown for half time.

A quick team talk from coach, Adam Jones, and co-captains, Sophie Binder and Jill Edgar, encouraged the rest of the team to continue as they had started.  Returning to the pitch for the second half, the team were eager to continue their good play and extend the goal difference even further.

A couple of strong finishes from our team quickly saw the score line extend to 5 – 0, before a sliding far post goal from Jill Edgar following a pass from Ruby Peters ensured a well-deserved 6 – 0 victory.

The team are now preparing to face our 2nd team on Wednesday 18th November at the Vagrants Ground.

Women’s Rugby Union 1st vs Liverpool Hope 1st

The team also deserve a special mention for the amazing sportsmanship shown when one of the opposition’s team was injured, which we’re really proud of.

Men’s Table Tennis 1st vs Edge Hill 1st

They may be new to the BUCS leagues, but they are certainly making an impact, adding another victory to their tally yesterday with a 13 – 4 victory over visitors, Edge Hill.

Men’s Water Polo 1st vs Durham 2nd

Sitting strong at the top of the Northern 1A are our men’s water polo team after a sold 15 – 6 victory over visitors, Durham, yesterday.  The victory also makes them the only team in their league who haven’t lost a game yet!

Huge congratulations to all of our clubs who competed yesterday – another great Wednesday!  Roll on next week!
