Carmen is back and ready to tell us all about how she got on, in her fourth week on our Get Into boxing course.
Fully equipped with a banana and a bottle of water, I was ready for week 4.
Footwork is not easy.
After a quick warm up and practising combinations, we were shown the basics of footwork: how to move to the right, left, forwards and backwards. Similar to dancing, your feet guide you and provide the support you would need while boxing. Apparently, if you encounter a stronger boxer than yourself, you really stand a chance if you get your footwork right.
I had the feeling it was one of those things that looks easier than it is and I was right. We all watched the coach demonstrate and then, lined up and had a go at it ourselves. The coaches’ encouragement is incredible, they are always willing to stop, help us out and correct us very patiently!
At the end of the session, I was asked if I thought I was improving… I am not sure how great I am yet, but at least we agreed my confidence is better!
Our Get Into boxing course is currently full but don’t worry, you can book yourself onto our the course next term!
