#BUCSWednesday: it’s a #ThisBUCSGirlCan Wednesday!

This Wednesday, we’re celebrating our female athletes and women’s teams for #ThisBUCSGirlCan and #ThisMMUGirlCan week!

Here are our picks of the games taking place on Wednesday 2 December, with a distinctly female focus!

Women’s Tennis 1s vs Chester 1s

It’s been a great season so far for our women’s tennis team, who sit near the top of the BUCS Northern 2A with seven points, ahead of this week’s opposition on ‘goal difference’.

Our women’s tennis team face Chester for the second consecutive week, after last Wednesday’s Cup game.  This week’s game sees our team look for a victory to ensure they retain their place near the top of the BUCS Northern 2A table.

We’ll be rooting for them!

Game starts: 12:30am, Virgin Active Lancashire

Women’s Rugby Union 1s vs Keele 1s

After their impressive win in the cup over Bradford last Wednesday, our women’s rugby 1s make their way south to take on Keele in what is only their second game of the season!

Kick off: 2:00pm, Newcastle Ruby Union Football Club, Newcastle under Lyme

Women’s Football 1s vs Manchester 1s

Women's Football4

It’s a local derby tomorrow as our women’s football 1s make their way to the Armitage Centre for another BUCS Northern 1A league game.  Last time the two teams met, back in October, it was a 4 – 4 stalemate and, after last week’s impressive 5 – 1 victory in the Trophy, we’re sure our team’s determination to show that Manchester really is blue and orange is back in full force.

Kick off: 2:00pm, the Armitage Centre, Manchester

Women’s Lacrosse 1s vs Bangor 1s

It’s a long old way to North Wales for our women’s lacrosse team, as they prepare to meet their opposition, top of the table Bangor, for the second time this season.  Last time the team met in the very first game of the season, Bangor took a victory over our team, but we’re sure that last week’s impressive 11 – 6 victory over Lancaster will be spurring on our team!

Game starts: 2:30pm, Ffriddoedd Grass Pitches, Bangor

Women’s Rugby Union 2s vs Cumbria 1s **POSTPONED**

Dominating the Northern 3A at the moment, our women’s rugby union 2s head north to Cumbria for their third game of the season.  For their opposition, it’s their very first game of the season, so we’re unsure how it’s going to go, but we know one thing for sure – if our team’s last two impressive league scorelines are anything to go by, it should be an exciting game.

Kick off: 3:00pm, Vale of Lune RUFC, Lancaster

Women’s Hockey 1s vs UCLan 1s

With both teams neck and neck in the BUCS Northern 3A, sharing the top spot with 12 points apiece, tomorrow’s game is tipped to be an exciting one as our women’s hockey 1s welcome UCLan to Timperley Sports Club for what will be the first time these two teams have met this season.

Push back: 3:30pm, Timperley Sports Club

Netball 1s vs UCLan 1s

Our unbeaten netball 1s make their way to Preston for their next game in the BUCS Northern 2A league.  Although UCLan are our team’s nearest competitors, sat in second place, we’re sure our women’s team will continue their run of impressive scorelines!

Game starts: 4:00pm, Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre

Women’s Basketball 1s vs Bradford 1s

It’s been a strong start to the season for our women’s basketball 1s, as last week saw them secure their spot in the next round of the Northern Conference Cup after an impressive 102 – 28 victory over Liverpool 2s.  This week’s game sees them welcome bottom of the table, Bradford, for what we hope will our team’s ticket to climb the BUCS Northern 2A.

Tip off: 6:00pm, Cheshire Sports Centre

We’ll be keeping you updated with all of the action on @MMUSport.  Best of luck to all of our teams competing tomorrow!
