#BUCSWednesday: #ThisBUCSGirl certainly can!

You know it’s winter when you wake up to a flurry of match postponements but, despite these cancellations, it was a still a great day for our teams.

Here’s our highlights from yesterday’s games!

Women’s Volleyball 1s vs Lancaster 1s

It’s been a tough start to the season for women’s volleyball team, who have faced strong opposition in the BUCS Northern 1A. An incredible game saw our team earn a well-deserved 3 – 2 victory, helping our team finish off the first half of the season on a high note!

Women’s Hockey 1s vs UCLan 1s

It was relatively unknown territory for our women’s 1s yesterday as they welcomed their nearest rivals to Timperley. A convincing 8 – 0 win sees the team go three points clear at the top, extending their impressive goal difference. Next week is the team’s last game of the term, as they face Salford 1s.

Netball 1s vs UCLan 1s

Our netball 1s also faced their nearest rivals (incidentally, also UCLan) yesterday away. The game saw the team take an impressive 71 – 23 victory over the home team, seeing them go four points clear at the top. Next week, the club travel to Chester for their final game of the term.

Women’s Tennis 1s vs Chester 1s

After a close cup match against the same team last week, this week saw our team assert their dominance in the Northern 2A to take a second consecutive victory over visitors, Chester, to win 10 – 2!

And more…

We’d also like to give a couple of special mentions to our men’s teams! Our men’s rugby league 1s sit clear at the top of the BUCS Northern 1A with 21 points and an outstanding 169 goal difference. Rumour has it that next week’s game against Liverpool could see them claim the league title and place them in line for promotion into the Northern Premier.

Elsewhere, our men’s hockey 2s came back from 4 – 1 down with 11 minutes to go to beat UCLan 5 – 4 at full time and our men’s badminton 2s earned their first win of the season, beating Glyndwr 8 – 0!
