Campus League Roundup: Week Five

The weather may have been grey but the football certainly wasn’t in week five of our Campus Leagues!

Highlight game of the week

A win for the unbeaten league one side Eton Messi against All Saints could see them move up to the top of the table depending on the results of the league leaders DLT.

During the first half, All Saints dominated the game by overpowering the Eton Messi midfield and making excellent use of the wings to work the ball into the box. It seemed that All Saints had forgotten their scoring boots as every shot went just wide of the goal or was saved by the Eton Messi goalkeeper. The same seemed to be happening to Eton Messi as well, as every time they went on the counter-attack they could not seem to finish the ball.

The first half finished at 0-0 with both teams itching to make the most of their chances in the second half.

The second half began with Eton Messi finding their form and dominating All Saints attack after attack.

However, against the run of play, All Saints went on a great counter attack and shot at the goal, which the Eton Messi goalkeeper managed to save but failed to keep hold of the ball which All Saints player, Luca Raimo managed to tap into the back of the net. 1-0 All Saints.

Eton Messi did not want to throw away their title challenge this easily as they pressed on attacking the All Saints defence. Eton Messi were rewarded when Richard Barber went for a left footed shot on the edge of the box to slot the ball into the bottom right of the goal. 1-1.

It was neck and neck as both teams were itching to take the lead. Eventually All Saints once again took the lead. After another attack, an All Saints player fired a shot at the Eton Messi goalkeeper, which he managed to save but once again failed to keep to control of the ball. This caused a scramble between two All Saints players and the Eton Messi goalkeeper but the goal was eventually scored when Mark Bowers managed to tap the ball in to make it 2-1.

The game finished 2-1 to All Saints. Both teams played exceptionally well with Eton Messi just being unfortunate at finishing the chances that they had created.
