#BUCSWednesday: Our teams hope for a strong end to 2015!

The nights are drawing in, the year is coming to an end and we’re ready to close 2015 on a high in our penultimate #BUCSWednesday!

Here’s our picks of the games taking place across campus on Wednesday 9th December.

MATCH OF THE DAY: Men’s Water Polo 1s vs University of Manchester 1s

mens waterpolo

It’s been a fantastic unbeaten season so far for our men’s water polo team. In their last game, they beat second place University of Newcastle 1s away to go one point clear at the top of the Northern 1A league.

This week, our men’s water polo team face local rivals, University of Manchester 1s, for the second time this year. Back in October, it was a comfortable win and they will look to repeat the same again and maintain their top spot!

We’ll be rooting for them!

Game starts: 1:00pm, Manchester Aquatics Centre

Womens’s Badminton 1s vs University of Chester 1s

W1s badders

Our women’s badminton 1s, along with our men’s team will also be playing at home this Wednesday. Sitting in sixth place in the Northern 3A, our women’s team have only played two league games this year, recording one win and one loss. They do, however, have a couple of games in hand over some universities. They will hope to put their last result behind them as they play University of Chester 1s tomorrow. This will be another challenging match for them as Chester are unbeaten this season! They haven’t played our women yet though!

Game starts: 2:00pm, Sugden Sports Centre

Men’s Badminton 1s vs UCLan 2s

Our men’s badminton 1s are dominating the Northern 3A at the moment, after winning all five of their league matches this year. In their last match, they won away against the University of Chester 1s in a closely fought match. This Wednesday sees bottom of the table, UCLan 2s, face the short trip down to Manchester.

Our men’s team will look to secure victory, maintain their top spot and increase their winning streak to six games!

Game starts: 2:00pm, Sugden Sports Centre

Women’s Rugby Union 1s vs University of Liverpool 1s

womens rugby

Coming off the back off their recent cup victory against Bradford 1s, our women’s rugby union 1s hope to continue their winning streak! Our team play top of the league University of Liverpool 1s in Wednesday’s league clash at Broughton Park. In their first and only league match they’ve played this year in the Northern 2A, they comfortably beat Liverpool Hope 1s 20-0, so fingers crossed tomorrow delivers another strong performance.

Game starts: 2:00pm, Broughton Park Rugby Club

Women’s Football 2s vs Edge Hill 2s

W football cheshire

Our women’s football 2s play Edge Hill in the Northern 2A this Wednesday, down at Sandbach United. This will be the second time they meet this year. Their last match was a closely fought one, which saw our women’s team win 2-1. They will hope to repeat this tomorrow!

Game starts: 2:00pm, Sandbach United FC

We’ll be keeping you updated with all of the action on @MMUSport.  Best of luck to all of our teams competing tomorrow!
