#BUCSWednesday: we’re almost halfway through the season!

As the end of term approaches, most of our teams have played their final games of 2015….

Here’s our highlights from yesterday’s games!

MOTD: Men’s Water Polo 1s 8 – 11 University of Manchester 1st

In yesterday’s Match of the Day, our men’s water polo 1s suffered their first defeat of the season against University of Manchester. Following a strong start from our opposition, our team had to work hard to get points on the board and at the end of the first half, we found ourselves 5-2 down.

A strong third quarter saw us fight back, and despite conceding, we levelled the score to 6-6. As the match drew to a close, our opposition managed to score some quick goals and eventually won the match 8 – 11.

Despite the result, our men’s 1s have kept their place at the top of the table in the Northern 1A; a victory over Newcastle at the weekend could see them cement this place and finish 2015 in the top spot.

Rugby League 1s 44 – 10 University of Liverpool 1s

Our men’s badminton 1s are unstoppable this season. With strong support from the rest of the club, they continue their unbeaten league run in BUCS Northern 3A after beating UCLan 2s 5-2. Having narrowly missed out on promotion last year, the team are determined to go one better this year.

Women’s Hockey 1s 6-0 University of Salford 1s

Women's Hockey

It was a fantastic week for our women’s hockey 1s, who cement their place at the top of BUCS Northern 3A with an impressive 6-0 victory over University of Salford. Our team have managed to score 47 goals in 6 league games so far this season, having only conceded twice and will aim to continue this fine form when they continue the season in February.

Men’s Basketball 4s 54 – 36 Liverpool John Moores University Men’s 2s

It has been a tough start to the season for our men’s basketball 4s in BUCS Northern 4A. Yesterday saw the team turn their fortunes around with an impressive 54-36 victory over Liverpool John Moores, helping them climb up the table.
