Spotlight On… Men’s Basketball!

In this week’s Spotlight On… we’re getting to know our Manchester-based Men’s Basketball club a little bit better!

Our men’s basketball club are having another fantastic year on the court, with the first team going into the second half of their season completely unbeaten in the BUCS Northern 2A and still in the running for the Northern Conference Cup.

We spoke to Chair, Danny Kimpton, to find out a little bit more about the club.

What’s the best part about being in your sports club?

“The friendship that is built between the group of guys in both of our teams!”

How did your club do last year on and off the court?

“Last season saw our first team make it to the semi-finals of the BUCS Northern Conference Cup and finish second in the Northern 2A.  They’ve return to the court this year eager to build on last year’s performance.

“The third team were unfortunately knocked out quite early on and finished fourth in the Northern 4A.

“Off the pitch, we worked hard to make ties with the community and try and start our team on the road to becoming a great team!”

What are your hopes for the rest of 2015/16?

“Our hopes for the rest of this season are to win the Northern 2A and get promoted into the Northern 1A.  We’d also like to win the Cup!  For the third team, we’d like to advance into the Northern 3A.”

What on and off the pitch activities do you have coming up for your club?

“We’re in the middle of planning a charity event for the British Lung Foundation, to support COPD research, as one of our members has really close ties with that charity.  We’re also playing in a charity event with the University of Manchester in March.”

Thanks Danny!
