In this week’s Spotlight On… we’re getting to know our Table Tennis club a little bit better!
Brand new for 2015/16, our table tennis club started this year as a result of our Active Campus programme. Led by captain and chair, David Adesanya, the club have started their BUCS campaign well and are also competing in the Sell Student Games.
We spoke to David to find out a little bit more about the club!
How many members do you have?
“We’ve currently got nine members.”
What is the best part about being in your sports club?
“We are a unit who are creating great strides in our first season on the table. Off the table, we’re contributing to local communities and fellow students by volunteering at various events.”
What are your hopes for the rest of 2015/16?
“We’ve got lots. We’d like to top our division and earn promotion, create the foundations for a table tennis scene in Manchester, engage more women to play at a competitive level, to reach at least the last 16 at Nationals and to take a medal at internationals!”
What on and off the pitch activities do you have coming up for your club?
“We’ve got lots of events coming up. We recently held a UV Table Tennis event at The Union and we’ve got lots more events coming up, including some outreach work to tackle food poverty and homelessness, Pongathon, a pop up at Manchester Street Games and hosting the Manchester Open!”
