This week, we had 13 fixtures taking place, with a number of our teams gaining great results. Here are our picks of yesterday’s games!
MOTD: Women’s Rugby Union 1st v Lancaster University 1st
In yesterday’s Match of the Day, our women’s rugby union 1st team were able to continue their fantastic run of form to beat Lancaster University 15-10!
Our team had a challenging start to the game, as a confident Lancaster team scored two early tries to take the lead. Our team, feeling determined, then began to put more pressure on the visitors and were able to respond quickly to bring the score back to 5-10. With time in the first half running out, our team were able to level the score after some great teamwork, leaving the score at half time 10-10.
After an inspirational half time team talk, our team were straight onto the field and started the second half with great tempo, taking the lead for the first time in the game. From this point there was no way back for Lancaster who were unable to break our team down. The home team remained strong to achieve a 15-10 victory.
This result means our team have gone above Lancaster into 2nd place in the league. They will continue their push for promotion next week as they travel to Bangor.
Men’s Rugby Union 1st v University of York 1st
It has been a difficult season so far for our men’s rugby union team, in a very tough league. They went into yesterday’s game at the bottom of Northern 1A, with a game in hand against their opponents, who are balanced just above our team in the table. Our team went into the game with determination and confidence. Their committed play paid off and they were victorious with a 10-3 win. The result moves them above their opponents in the table and with five games left to go, it is still all to play for!
Women’s Lacrosse v Lancaster University
After a narrow defeat at the weekend against top of the table Bangor, our women’s lacrosse team bounced back with a fantastic 12-3 victory over Lancaster. The team are improving week on week, and with four league games left, they will be hoping for a strong finish to the season to build on this result.
Men’s Football 3rd v Lancaster University
Our men’s 3rd team continued our successful week against Lancaster teams with a 2-0 victory. A great team performance and a clean sheet cements our place at the top of the table. The team will continue their push for promotion with a home game against Cumbria next week.
Men’s Football 6th v Bolton 1st
It was goals galore for our men’s football 6th team, as they enjoyed an emphatic 13-1 victory over Bolton. This impressive display should leave the team with plenty of confidence as they take on top of the table Edge Hill next week.
