BUCS Wednesday: #TiedTogether

With history being made by our men’s rugby league and many teams nearing promotion after last week’s fixtures, tomorrow brings us another action packed #BUCSWednesday and we hope it’s going to be just as fantastic!

This week our clubs have been invited to take part in the #TiedTogether campaign which seeks to tackle homophobia, biphobia and transphobia in sport. Show your support by signing the Charter and getting your teams to wear rainbow laces for their matches this week and make sure you tweet your pictures with the hashtag #TiedTogether.

Here’s our pick of the games taking place on Wednesday 10th February!

MATCH OF THE DAY: Men’s Basketball 2s vs University of Manchester 2s

Our Cheshire-based men’s basketball have a had a tough start to the season so far, they are currently positioned in third place in the Northern 3A, unfortunately promotion is out of sight but they will still want to push for a strong position at the end of the season!

This Wednesday, it’s a Manchester derby. They face Manchester 2s down at the Cheshire Campus Centre. Manchester 2s are level on points with a game in hand ,therefore it’s a must win game for our men’s team. They will hope for a repeat of the last game they faced each other where they beat Manchester 2s in a thrilling 59-53 win down at Armitage in November. Get yourself down to support the lads tomorrow!

Games starts at 3pm, Cheshire Campus Sports Centre

Men’s Waterpolo 1s vs Sheffield 1s

Sat at the top of the Northern 1A, our men’s waterpolo 1s are within touching distance of winning the Northern 1A for the first time in the clubs history. However, Newcastle 1s are hot on their heels in 2nd one point behind. Therefore, their last two games are must wins, in order them to secure the league title. This Wednesday, they face Sheffield 1s for the first time this season at the MAC, they will hope to continue their good form with a win here. Goof luck lads!

Game starts at 1pm, Manchester Aquatics Centre

Women’s Netball 1s vs Edge Hill 1s

After an unbelievable 113-11 victory last week against Keele 1s, our women’s netball are on a high! With 7 wins from 7 matches they are in pole position for the Northern 2A league title. They just need 2 more wins out of their last three games to secure the league. Tomorrow, they travel to Ormskirk to take on Edge Hill 1s. This is the second time they have faced eachother this season, they will hope to repeat their comfortable victory over them back in early November.

Men’s Football 2s vs Chester 1s

The Northern 3A is going to be a tough league to win this year. Our Manchester based men’s football 2s are currently 2nd in the table, level on points with top of the league Liverpool 2s. In their last match, they beat Edge Hill away 2-1 in the league. Tomorrow, third place Chester 1s travel up to Platt Lane. This will be the third time they have played each other this season. A win here will pile on the momentum at the top and they will hope to push for promotion into Northern 2A!

Women’s Rugby Union 2s vs UCLan 1s

Currently leaders of the Northern 3A, our Cheshire based women’s rugby union team have had a perfect start to the season winning all three of their opening league games. Tomorrow they face second place UCLAN 1s who have not yet played a game this season. Manchester 2s conceded a walkover to them earlier in the season. A win here will make it 4 out of 4 and put them in the driving seat for promotion.
