This March, we’re taking part in Sport Relief to help raise money and awareness for this fantastic cause!
But we can’t do it alone! We’re asking our staff and students to come together, join our challenge and do something amazing this March, and get active in aid of this incredible charity.
We kick start our fundraising challenge on Wednesday 16th March with our first ever Bikeathon!
Over three days, our goal is to complete the Tower-to-Tower challenge! That’s right – the full 543.2 miles between the ‘Eiffel Tower of the North’ (also known as the Blackpool Tower) and the actual Eiffel Tower in Paris.
We’re inviting anyone that fancies themselves as the next Team Sky to take part in our challenge in the comfort of The Union. So, whether you’re in a sports team, a slightly competitive department or simply fancy a leisurely cycle across the channel, we’d love you to take part.
We’re looking for teams of three people to take part in the event, and our bikes can be booked in hourly slots.
Not wanting to stay exclusively on dry land, on Friday 18th March, we take the plunge in our Swimathon at the Manchester Aquatics Centre!
Our challenge here is simple – we just want to swim as far as we can! So, whether you want to swim 25 meters or 2.5 miles, we’re inviting anyone who wants to take part to come to the Manchester Aquatics Centre, pledge how many lengths they want to swim, jump into one of our dedicated MMU Sport lanes and go for it!
So here’s the important bit – the fundraising!
But, don’t feel like you have to stop there – if you want to raise more money, either through sponsorship, a bake sale or any other fundraising ideas then go right ahead! And you can contribute your fundraising efforts on our Just Giving page.
