#BigBUCSWednesday: It’s the last one this season!

With the evenings getting lighter and the days getting warmer, we are sadly at that time of the year…..it’s the last #BUCSWednesday of the season!

We can’t believe how quick this season has flown, we’re going to miss our favorite day of the week! With many promotions and cup wins in the bag, we still have some important games to be played on the last #BUCSWednesday of the year.

Here’s our pick of the matches to look out for on Wednesday 16th March!

MATCH OF THE DAY: Men’s Football 1s vs Essex 1s

CAZI0YIWAAAbaUZ (1)

Our Cheshire based men’s football 1s have made the BUCS Trophy finals! Following on from the success of last years cup campaign where they won the Conference Cup final, they have overcome some tough opposition to book their place at the #BIGBUCSWednesday down at Sheffield Hallam. Let’s have a look at their road to the trophy final!

In the first round they took the long journey north to Edinburgh to take on Heriot-Watt University 1s. They came back with a 4-1 win to kick start their cup campaign strongly. In the second round, our opponents LJMU, conceded a walkover which meant we booked our place into the quarter finals!

In the quarters, we hosted Newcastle 1s down at Sandbach United FC. A strong performance from both sides made it a great game to watch but our men’s 1s came out on top in a 2-1 victory to make it through to the semi finals! Things were getting a bit more serious now!

Last Friday, they travelled to Nottingham Trent to face their 1s. Another strong performance, earned their place in the BUCS Trophy finals, for the first time in over 10 years. Tomorrow,  they face Essex 1s who are in a similar position in the South Eastern 1A league at Sheffield Hallam Sports Centre. We no doubt know it’s going to be a fantastic game to watch and we cant wait! Keep an eye out for out live twitter coverage tomorrow!

Good luck lads, bring home the Trophy!

Kick off: 3:00pm, Sheffield Hallam Sports Centre.

Men’s Basketball 1s vs Manchester 1s

Our Manchester based men’s basketball 1s have had a fantastic season. Tomorrow, they face Manchester 1s. In their last league game against Manchester 1s, they won 71-62 in a closely fought match down at Sugden. They will want to repeat the win and put last weeks disappointment of narrowly missing out on the cup behind them. A win tomorrow against our local rivals, will make it 10 wins from 10 in the Northern 2A and top off a fantastic 15/16 season. Bring home the win guys!

Women’s Tennis 1s vs Chester 1s

Our women’s tennis 1s are currently sat at the top of the Northern 2A, losing only one game this season. They are 4 points ahead of 2nd place Lancaster 1s, however, Lancaster have a game in hand. Therefore, tomorrows match against third place Chester is a must win to secure the league and promotion into Northern 1A! Earlier in the season, our women’s tennis beat Chester comfortably 10-2. They will hope for a similar score tomorrow on the last day of the season! Good luck ladies.
