This weekend I competed at the British International Karate Championships at Pondes Forge, Sheffield. It was a great weekend for me, I achieved a silver medal in the Under 21 Individual Kata event and a bronze medal in the Senior Individual Kumite. I was pleased with my performance but need to focus on being more consistent, by avoiding long breaks in my training which causes my fitness levels to drop. I think had my fitness been better I would have won my kumite section.
I also coached the Yanagai Kai Junior Team Kata to win their first British title. This makes them the most successful team kata to ever have competed for Yanagi Kai, they have won the English Karate Championships twice (2015/2016). I have coached this team from the beginning and I am very proud, especially as one of the team members is my younger sister.
