We’re the boxing scholars of MMU Sport and here’s how we got on at the regional finals at the NABGC championships in Salford.
My fight this weekend was the northwest regional final that I won by TKO in round three.
The lad I fought was Keaton Jackson was a very tough kid, but I found success with throwing lots of punches to the body so continued to switch the punches from head to body with good speed and power.
I now fight this Sunday in the National last 16 vs Liverpool on Liverpool. The lad I fight is the England ranked #2 at 75kg so I’m going to have to put on a big display!

Unfortunately, I didn’t get the decision in my fight. It was a really close fight and my opponent was older, much more experienced and has had 60 fights – over double mine.
But I performed really well and I’m improving all the time which is the most important thing in amateur boxing. My coaches were really impressed and know I’ve improved and have a bright future. My opponent knew it was a very tough fight and said it was the hardest he’s ever had. The decision does not give credit for how well I did, but I can take so much from this fight for the future.
The result was not the one I wanted and that is upsetting when I know how hard I work and the effort I put in but it will not deter me, it will only make me stronger and me and my coaches know I will get there in the end.
